There is a small toning spot at bottom, still a scarce stamp this nice and very fine. From the Louis Sidney Crosby Collection of Prince Edward Island. Unitrade CV$4,000, sold for $1800 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 727, 1880 Great Britain two shilling brown Victoria, Sperati forgery, sold for $1380Lot 727 Great Britain #56F 1880 2sh brown Queen Victoria Sperati forgery, a magnificent reproduction of this stamp, made on genuine watermarked (Spray of Rose) paper, with a genuine cancel and perforations. Jean de Sperati was an expert at using a genuine low value stamp from the same issue and removing the printed design, then printing his own design so as to retain the original watermarked paper, postmark and perforations. Very fine, and a rare item by the master forger. Scott catalogue value for genuine would be $3,750. Accompanied by a 2016 Sergio Sismondo certificate. Estimate C$300, sold for $1,200 plus buyer’s premium.
