Do you wish to sell through Sparks Auctions?

We would be happy to assist you in finding new homes for your treasures. We try to make it simple to sell your stamps, collections and postal history. Our bidders and buyers are always on the lookout for items to fit their needs, whether they are collectors, exhibitors or dealers.

We see new material coming through our doors every day and we invite you to consign again, or for the first time. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff provide exacting lot descriptions with colour photos and scans, all promoted online and in philatelic publications around the world. We work diligently to give your consigned material the attention it deserves through our live Public Auctions, Public Floor Sales (of bulkier, harder-to-ship material) and occasional Private Treaty offerings.

To accompany our live Public Auction floor in Ottawa, we offer advance and live bidding on Stamp Auction Network (including many thousands of photos per sale, typically!) and live audio from the auction floor so you can follow the action on your computer or mobile device from anywhere in the world. Our active customer list of many thousands sees most bidders and buyers view the material  and place bids online. We also post PDFs of the print catalogue to our website and mail some to frequent buyers. We receive website visits from many hundreds of registered bidders in the weeks before each sale and many people visit our office for advance viewing of the sale material.

Canada #3 sold in our September 2017 auction for $327,750 – then a record for a Canadian stamp sold in Canada.

We typically have in excess of 850 unique bidders (from our database of more than 10,500 customers) in each sale with more than 300 of them successful. When the last lot has been called, we will have seen bidders from across Canada and the United States, with others coming from Great Britain, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India, Asia, Africa and South & Central America.

Payments are sent 45 business days after the close of auction, to allow us to collect payment from successful bidders, and process expertization certificates if requested.

Please contact us if you have material you think might be appropriate for a coming auction. We typically hold three large, general sales a year, in the Winter, Spring and Fall, along with special name sales and (in-person only) floor sales.

NOTES:

  • Our general auction schedule (typically three times per year) allows us to source and process incoming material, promote it, sell it and collect the proceeds for you. We sometimes hold special auctions between our general sales, as well as Floor Sales and Private Treaty (retail) offerings.
  • We do not purchase stamps and collections outright, to help prevent conflict of interest.
  • Please do not send unsolicited scans to our e-mail address; we will get back to you with instructions for transmitting files.
  • Contact us early and learn why we have earned consignors’ trust!
