Floor Sale April 27, 2024

Our 7th public Floor Sale will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at our office at 1770 Woodward Drive in Ottawa. This in-person only sale has 111 lots of stamps, covers, collections, face value postage, philatelic literature and collecting supplies in 166 cartons. In-person viewing starts at 8:00 a.m. EST and runs until the room is re-set for the start of bidding at 1:00 p.m. Please note this is one hour earlier than previous Floor Sales. No appointment is necessary on sale day. Viewing these lots is essential, as we know there will be many “finds” awaiting the curious viewer. We will also have several 2023 Unitrade Canada Specialized catalogues, some large plastic bins and other Spring cleaning items available for retail sale. The Lot List is available to view and print.

57 1 Stamps / Ephemera 1 carton of eclectic remainders: Canadian Revenues (including full sheets of some Customs Duty stamps – 1c x2, 2c x3, 5c x2 and 10c x1; stock sheets and several envelopes of used war tax and excise stamps); a stockbook with some Precancels; a few old documents; and a few small black line prints of Maritime scenes. The lot is rounded out by several sheetlets of Winnipeg-Pembina Courier Service labels and covers.

We also saw new issue posters with stamps affixed and postmarked, including on the first day of issue.

Ideal contents to share with collector friends and fellow club members or for the intrepid reseller.
100 1 Stamps 1 carton of thousands of both mint and (more) used worldwide and Canada stamps in stockbooks, Tari-fold sheets and loose pages. A good project for the collector who loves to sort!

103 1 Covers 1 carton of Canada FDCs from late 1960s to early 1990s in binders and loose. Mostly Canada Post Official FDCs, except for the 1960s items. We saw plate blocks that will be of interest to the avid FDC collector.
104 1 Postal Stationery 1 large carton of USA Postal Stationery from the 1890s to about 1990 in large binders with a few loose. Bulky but beautiful, this lot would make an excellent start on this interesting are of USA collecting.
105 1 Covers / Stationery Post Cards 1 plastic box with a mix of modern FDCs (mostly 1980s to ’90s) in a FDC album, on Vario pages and loose, plus a FDC album with Stationery Post Cards from the Victorian era, in which we saw some a couple of squared circles. Also includes a small pile of revalued Queen EII stationery and a bundle of the ST-1 experimental Christmas labels from 1983.
106 1 Stamps 1 large carton of mainly British Commonwealth stamps including 4 stockbooks of Caribbean & Southern Africa which is a accumulation of pre-1980s stamps sorted into 28 envelopes by country: Jamaica, India, Bermuda, Bahamas, Bermuda etc. There is also Brazil, an old-time Cardinal album and a smaller box of GB commemoratives on paper.

Most are singles or sets on piece that have “stamp” perforations. Also includes souvenir sheets with similar postmarks, as well as loose stamps from the same era.

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE
Sparks Auctions Floor Sale – April 27, 2024

1. The property described in the lot list will be offered at a live, in-person, public floor auction by Sparks Auctions Inc. (hereinafter “Sparks Auctions”) on behalf of various consignors. By bidding on any lot, the bidder acknowledges and agrees to these Terms and Conditions of Sale.

2. The sale will be conducted in Canadian funds. The auctioneer shall regulate the bidding and reserves the right to reject any bid believed by him not to be made in good faith and to withdraw any lot prior to or during the sale and to act on behalf of the vendor. In the event of any dispute, the auctioneer’s decision shall be final.

3. The bidder with the highest bid acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. The term “hammer price” means the last bid acknowledged by the auctioneer. The purchase price payable by the buyer will be the sum of the hammer price plus a commission equal to 17% of the hammer price (“buyer’s premium”), together with any tax which may be applicable.

4. All lots shall be paid for and removed from the premises on the day of the sale. Payment may be made by e-transfer, cheque drawn on a Canadian bank, cash or credit card. A fee of 2.5% will be added to process credit card payments. A fee of $100.00 will be charged for any cheque returned for insufficient funds. Until paid in full, all lots remain the property of Sparks Auctions on behalf of the consignor.

5. All lots are sold as-is and there will be no extensions for expertization and no returns will be accepted for any reason. The opportunity to view the lots constitutes acknowledgement of both contents and quality.

6. Should any dispute arise over these Terms and Conditions, such dispute will be settled according to the laws and regulations of the Province of Ontario, Canada, with options for resolution being negotiation between the parties, followed by mediation, followed by action in the most appropriate legal venue in Ontario.
