Lot 360 Great Britain #O10 1885 brown violet £1 Queen Victoria, Overprinted “I. R. OFFICIAL”, unused (no gum) and well centered. Accompanied by a 2016 P.T.S. Expertizing (Surrey, GB) certificate stating “thin at bottom left, diagonal crease on letter “F” top right corner, stained and soiled”. Two small ownership handstamps on back. Still, we qualify these faults as minor, as the stamp has a very fine appearance and would look great even in the best collections. A desirable major world rarity. S.G. #O11 £75,000. Lot 327 Great Britain #5 1847 1sh green Queen Victoria Embossed Imperforate, Die 2, Unwatermarked, a lovely used block of four, with 1844-type numeral cancels and ample to close margins, bright colour on fresh paper, very fine. Deep embossing and two vertical silk threads through each stamp. Accompanied by a 2017 BPA certificate stating “creases and small split at top of stamp 2, small natural exclusion at foot”. Lot 326 Great Britain #4 1841 2d blue Queen Victoria on bluish Paper, Imperforate, Watermark Small Crown, lovely used strip of three, with light 1844 type grid cancels, with large margins along the whole length of the top and bottom, plus showing a large part of both adjoining stamps at right and left. The owner has identified it as plate 3 (unverified by us) and with the “square footed J” variety. Deep, rich colour and extremely fine. S.G. #14, £255. Scott CV U$275.
