Lot 17 Canada #4 Collection of eight 3d Beaver Imperforates with Legible 4-ring Numeral Cancels, includes #s 39 (St Johns, RF 9, tough to find on Pence issues), 50 (Windsor, RF 6), 12 (Dundas, RF 9 faint strike), 15 (Guelph, RF 6, extremely fine strike but stamp has a thin), 21 (Montréal, RF 1, corner crease), 31 (Picton (RF 7, very fine strike), 10 (Cobourg, RF 7, faint strike) and 11 (Cornwall, RF 7, rare and usually faint). The stamps typically have three to four margins and are sound, except for those faults mentioned above. Estimate $400, sold for C$1,200.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Lot 11 Canada #4 1852 3d Red Beaver Imperforate, used with 4-ring #15 (Guelph) cancel in its first state. Margins range from a sheet margin at bottom (including part of an imprint) to large on three other sides, showing part of adjoining stamp at right, extremely fine. A lovely stamp, signed in pencil by Alberto Diena. Unitrade CV$300, sold for C$250 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Lot 511 Canada #4iii 3d Red Imperforate Beaver on Ribbed, Hard Wove Paper on Cover, mailed from Kingston (OCT.19.1857 broken circle) to Guelph (OCT.20 receiver) via Toronto and Belleville (both OCT.20 transits on back). The cover is franked with a sheet margin single of the ribbed, hard wove paper 3d red imperforate, ideally tied by a double broken circle datestamp (contrary to regulation, scarce). Light horizontal fold does not detract from this desirable cover, both for the cancellation and for the scarce stamp usage. Accompanied by a 2015 Greene Foundation certificate. Rsv. $675.
