Lot 1436, two folded letters mailed from the British Post Office in Java, 1813 & 1815
Lot 1436 Java Two Folded Letters Mailed from The British Post Office in Java, 1813 and 1815, the first was mailed in 1813 (datelined inside) from Batavia to Indromajoe, with intaglio receiver on front as well as boxed POST-PAID. The second was mailed in 1815 (datelined inside) from Sourabaya to Grisse with intaglio receiver on front (including letters EEIC standing for English East India Company) plus boxed POST-PAID. These letters are in pristine condition for their age, and all of the postmarks (in red) are also very fine and clean. A very rare duo, dated in the short period of British Occupation (1811-1816). Also includes a lovely red wax seal, apparently from 1792, depicting a very fancy sailing ship being the seal of the Dutch East Indies Company. Estimate C$1,000.
Lot 1390, 1900 Boer War cover from Thaba Nchu to Barrie Ontario, then Toronto
1900 Boer War Cover, mailed from Thaba Nchu (O.V.S.) on SEP.7.1900 and franked with a 2½d stamp, then received a purple Canadian Contingent / South Africa datestamp on SEP.17.1900, then presumably went through GB before it arrived at its destination of Barrie, Ontario on OCT.15 (receiver on back). The next day it was forwarded to Toronto where it was received (on back) on OCT.16. A lovely Second Canadian Contingent cover, which are not commonly seen franked as such, very fine. Estimate C$500.

Lot 284 Canada #116 1912 10c plum Admiral, mint never hinged, fresh and quite pleasingly centered, extremely fine. Accompanied by a 2007 Philatelic Foundation certificate grading it as “XF 90”. A lovely stamp. Unitrade CV$1,200.
Lot 1032, France/Canada 1877 folded letter Paris to Québec City through London
Lot 1032 France #12 1877 pre-UPU France to Canada redirected, a folded letter mailed from Paris (Place de la Bourse JUL.5.1877) to Québec City (JAN.20 receiver on back) through London (JUL.6 PAID transit on front, plus an orange crayon “1d”). The letter was then forwarded to Rivière du Loup en Bas, by adding a 3c Small Queen, tied by a Québec duplex on JUL.20. The letter was finally received there on the same day. A lovely three-colour, dual country franking on a folded letter (no letter inside), with a vertical crease and tear at top, both not affecting the stamps or the pleasing visual aspect. Letters are scarce to rare from France to Canada in this period, and this one is no exception, especially with its added interest. Estimate $1,500.
