Lot 565, Newfoundland 1872 twelve cent pale red brown on cover to Liverpool, sold for $264Lot 565 Newfoundland #28 1872 12c pale red brown Queen Victoria cover to England, mailed at Twillingate on MAR.9.1872 (nice black c.d.s. on front), with St John’s transit c.d.s. on back APR.15.1872 and reached Liverpool via British Packet on MAY.19.1872. Few edge creases and minor corner faults, stamp is a real jumbo (with small faults), else a very fine cover. Accompanied by a 2002 APS certificate not mentioning the small faults. Unitrade CV$200, sold for C$230 plus buyer’s premium.

Slightly reduced at right and stains on back, still a scarce cover, with two lovely cancellations and very presentable. Accompanied by a 2015 Greene Foundation certificate. Ex. Ken Kutz (1997) and Jack Wallace (2014). Estimate $1,000, sold for C$1,150 plus buyer’s premium.
