The inside is a long three page letter datelined Waterloo Dec.17.1828, and because the post office in Waterloo only opened in 1836, the letter had to be mailed at Stanstead (on Christmas Day), about 50km away. A very fine and clean folded letter with a very fine strike of this rare straightline postmark, with only three or four known. Estimate $300, sold for C$950.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.
