Lot 294Lot 294 Canada #FB52 1868 $1 Queen Victoria Third Federal Bill Issue, on Pelure Paper, mint upper left marginal plate block of eight, with top selvedge showing the complete BABNC printer’s inscription. We quote here part of a van Dam description of this block “the condition of this block is incredible – it looks as if it was printed yesterday with very rich very fresh colour. Centering like this is very rarely seen. One stamp has some very light gum disturbance, the 7 others are mint never hinged.” He goes on to explain his cataloguing for the block (included) and puts it at $1,000. Lot 107Lot 107 Canada #63 1897 $3 yellow bistre Jubilee, mint never hinged, with sheet selvedge at left. Perfectly centered among four even margins, fresh and extremely fine. Accompanied by a 2014 Greene Foundation certificate. Unitrade footnote states “No. 61 to 65 ($1 to $5) in XF NH condition command very large premiums – copies of 63 to 65 ($3 to $5) were selling for up to $14,000 at auction over the past couple of years”.
