Lot 294 Canada #FB52 1868 $1 Queen Victoria Third Federal Bill Issue, on Pelure Paper, mint upper left marginal plate block of eight, with top selvedge showing the complete BABNC printer’s inscription. We quote here part of a van Dam description of this block “the condition of this block is incredible – it looks as if it was printed yesterday with very rich very fresh colour. Centering like this is very rarely seen. One stamp has some very light gum disturbance, the 7 others are mint never hinged.” He goes on to explain his cataloguing for the block (included) and puts it at $1,000.
