Lot 1371, Commonwealth Collection King George VI Era (1937-52), sold for C$3,978

Lot 1371, Commonwealth Collection King George VI Era (1937-52), sold for C$3,978Lot 1371 British Commonwealth Mostly Used Collection of King George VI Era in Three Lighthouse Binders with Matching Slipcases, 1937 to 1952, a very close to complete collection on Stanley Gibbons pages made for KGVI issues of the British Commonwealth (Aden to Zanzibar). Missing stamps are not always necessarily high values (some are) and we note that by far the area missing the most stamps are the Indian States. We noted some mint issues, often dues. Owner counted 4,173 different stamps in all, and we note a high degree of quality here, with many having clean c.d.s. cancels, and a huge catalogue value. Inspect to better appreciate. Estimate $1,000, sold for C$3,400.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Overall very fine and worthy of a close look. Estimate $750, sold for C$900.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Lot 1403, France 1849-1987 mint and used collection in two albums, sold for C$1,228

Lot 1403, France 1849-1987 mint and used collection in two albums, sold for C$1,228Lot 1403 France Mint and Used Collection in Two Albums, 1849 to 1987, starts with a good representation of early classics, with shades, postmarks, better values (5fr is damaged, 1fr appears to be a Fournier forgery), with very few missing regular issue stamps until the end. Saw a good representation of Semi-Postals, different Dies of the 1939-31 high value buildings, a few millésime pairs, a toned Pexip souvenir sheet, Airmails, Postage Dues, Precancels and more. A very nice collection put together with care and overall fine or better. The owner counted his catalogue value at $25,000 but due to some mis-catalogued items we estimate a more realistic number to be around $15,000. Rsv. Estimate $1,000, sold for C$1,050.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.
