Lot 471, Canada 1859 six pence grey violet Consort, F-VF unused no gum

Lot 471, Canada 1859 six pence grey violet Consort, Perforated 11¾, F-VF unused no gumLot 471 Canada #13a 1859 6d Grey Violet Consort, Perforated 11¾, unused (no gum), a lovely example of this scarcer shade with full and intact perforations, fresh and fine-very fine. The rarity of mint or unused perforated 6d in the grey violet share cannot be understated. They are significantly rarer than the “regular” brown violet shade despite having the same catalogue value. The 6d in grey violet is typically part of the last half dozen stamps remaining on serious want lists. This specific example is one of the finest available to collectors. It might be a long time before a comparable example comes to the market.

Accompanied by a 1988 Greene Foundation certificate.
