Lot 816Lot 816 World War I Comic Postcards by Capt. Bruce Bairnsfather, printers by Bystander. These comic drawings were published in Fragments from France magazines and then issued as postcards. This collection includes 20 of the magazines plus 34 postcards, both unused and mailed. Usual condition, some with edge faults, etc. Estimate $200, sold for $250 plus buyer’s premium.

A military cover with slight faults, but obviously of great interest, selling for three times the estimate.

Scarce “TRANSFERRED TO ENGLAND” two line boxed oblong handstamp. Some edge faults plus a vertical crease at left. Estimate $100, sold for $275 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 254, 1927 five cent violet D’Arcy McGee, imperf horizontally block of 20, sold for $3,450

Lot 254Lot 254 Canada #146c 1927 5c violet D’Arcy McGee, Imperforate Horizontally, mint never hinged upper sheet margin Plate A1 block of 20. The selvedge at top shows a full printer’s imprint plus a cutting arrow at left. A lovely and very rare large multiple, as the Unitrade catalogue footnote states that regular VFNH plate blocks are rare, and that part-perforate plate blocks are very rare, with only 5-10 of any value known. Unitrade also adds that Jephcott and Gates have reported only 250 pairs only of each perforation variety. Fresh and extremely fine. Unitrade CV$3,840, sold for $3,000 plus buyer’s premium.
