From Earle Covert’s exhibit The Development of Canadian Armed Forces and Civilian Air Letters 1942 to 1996 (available as a BNAPS book). Webb CV$100, sold for C$120 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 373Lot 373 Canada Centennial Baby Sisters circa 1967, Baby Sisters Experimental Essay showing two young girls. Four imperforate between pairs, in a mix of black, blue and green with Davac gum. In 1967, British American Bank Note Company was awarded the contract to print the Centennial issue booklets using a new printing machine, a Goebel press, which could print booklets of multi-coloured stamps in one operation. They tested the new press by printing test booklets using a design referred to as the “Baby Sisters.” Very fine. Estimate $100, sold for C$240 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 947Lot 947 Canada #90 & 104, 1912 Edward and Admiral Cover to Senegal, mailed from Hearst Ont (new earliest recorded date by seven years, and 3 months after the proof date, JUN.19.1912) and addressed to C.F.A.O. in Rufisque, Sénégal. Franked with two 2c Edward and a 1c Admiral, for 5c. A bit roughly opened at top, still a very rare destination in any period. Estimate $200, sold for C$400 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 19Lot 19 Canada #4d 1852 3d orange red Beaver Imperforate, on Thin Paper, used with target cancel. Four large and even margins, bright colour and extremely fine. There is an owner’s handstamp on back. A lovely stamp, accompanied by a 2016 Greene Foundation certificate. Unitrade CV$300, sold for C$325 plus buyer’s premium.
