High value of Lot 525, USA 1908-09 Washington-Franklin set, sold for C$3,393Lot 525 United States #331-342 1908-09 1c to $1 Washington – Franklin Set with Double Line Watermark, all mint never hinged except for the 50c and $1 which are extremely lightly hinged (the 50c appears never hinged to us). There are nine certificates accompanying this set, with 3c (2005 PF), 8c (1996 PF), 10c (2000 PF), 13c (1995 PF), 15c (2003 PF), 50c (1984 PF and 2007 PSE with “VF 80” grade) and the $1 (1979 PF and 2007 PSE with “XF 90” grade). A fresh and mostly very fine or better group. Lot 649, USA 1873 24c dark green Dept. of State Official, VF mint, sold for C$1,462Lot 649 United States #O65 1873 24c Dark Green Dept. of State Official, mint lightly hinged, well centered among four large and even margins, with fresh bright colour, extremely fine. Accompanied by a 1988 Philatelic Foundation and a 2008 PSE certificate, the latter grading it as “XF 90J”, with an SMQ value of $1,475. Scott CV U$550, sold for C$1,250.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Lot 1135 Spain #3 1850 5r Red Queen Isabella Imperforate, unused (no gum) with rich colour, three large margins, close but clear at left, with a shallow small thin at top (not mentioned in cert.), else fine-very fine. Signed Roig and accompanied by a 1983 C.E.M. (Madrid) certificate. Scott CV U$2,700.

Lot 1136 Spain #4 1850 6r Blue Queen Isabella Imperforate, unused (no gum) with rich colour, margins are large to well clear on all sides. Fine-very fine and accompanied by a 1983 C.E.M. (Madrid) certificate which mentions a “small transparency” which we cannot locate. Scott CV U$3,000.
