Lot 778, Canada 1936 Registered C.O.D. cover, well-travelled
Lot 778 1936 Registered C.O.D. Cover Refused and Sent Back, a 3c stationery cover mailed registered from Rocanville, Sask to Spiritwood, Sask, uprated with a 5c KGV and a 10c Cartier to pay the 17c triple weight registration fee (1c overpaid). The 15c C.O.D. fee (yellow triangular adhesive label on front) would have been paid in cash. The cover travelled well, as there are just over thirty datestamps on back (see scan online) including Brandon, Spiritwood, Prince Albert, RPOs, etc. A very interesting cover, which is accompanied by someone’s attempt to retrace the route by dates, from JUL.22 to SEP.7. A few wrinkles and small tear at left, still very fine. Estimate C$150.
