Canada #119 1925 20¢ olive green Admiral, nice colour, mint never hinged, extremely fine. Unitrade CV$450, realized $603 including premium.
Colombian airmail stamps were overprinted in 1923 to be sold and used in various countries to prepay airmail service to Colombia. This example of the fifty cent green was bid up to $500, thereby exceeding catalogue value once the premium was added.

Old-timers think of this as a ten dollar stamp, but catalogues have realized how difficult it is to obtain a really nice example. Now it catalogues at $150, but that did not stop determined bidders and it reached a hammer of $190.
Canada #127ii 1912 2c rose carmine Admiral coil, perf 8 vertically, with immaculate gum, extremely fine, never hinged. The most elusive of the Admiral coils to find with this centering. Unitrade CV$150, realized $218 including premium.
With about 130 lots of Admirals, we overwhelmed some collectors. Most of our Admirals were attractive and fresh but usually just shy of the extremely fine grade that attracts the astronomical bids. This Admiral plate block sold for $1150, which is over catalogue value.

How often can you buy a complete "country?" This fresh set of SASENO, which was not very well centered as is normal, opened at only $55 before selling to the book at $120, still well short of the top bid.
