Lot 690, Canada 1914 five cent dark blue Admiral, XF NHLot 690 Canada #111 1914 5c Dark Blue Admiral, mint never hinged with wonderful centering, large margins and fresh, bright colour, extremely fine. A lovely example of this sought-after stamp, and one of the nicest we’ve recently handled.

Accompanied by a 2013 Greene Foundation certificate and a 2022 PSE certificate grading it as “Superb 98J”. The highest graded stamp by the PSE with two other stamps graded 98. SMQ U$1,150 for 95 with no price for higher grade.

Lot 995, Canada 1915 registered Admiral War Tax cover, Windsor to Egypt, sold for C$760Lot 995 Canada #MR2Bi 1915 Registered Admiral Early War Tax Cover to Egypt, mailed from Windsor Ontario on APR.19.1915 to the Indian Expeditionary Force in Egypt, through Toronto (APR.20 transit), with a Detroit, Michigan return address. The cover is franked with an MR2Bi (5c blue Admiral overprinted INLAND REVENUE WAR TAX) on front and six MR1 War Tax stamps on back totaling 8c. The overprinted War Tax stamps were issued to be used on fiscal documents, but a few rare examples are known used postally. Bit of aging and open on three sides for display, still a scarce franking and destination, plus an early use of the War Tax issues (rate in effect April 15th). Estimate C$350, sold for C$650.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.
