Lot 783 — Western Australia 1861 four pence vermilion swan, unused, sold for $633
Lot 783 Western Australia #24B 1861 4d vermilion Swan, Intermediate Perforated 14 to 16, unused (no gum). There is a natural paper inclusion, resulting in a printing defect at bottom of neck, else fine plus. Accompanied by a 2014 Sergio Sismondo certificate stating in part “the intermediate perforations appear in the earliest printings of perforated stamps of Western Australia, and were executed in-house by Perkins, Bacon & Co. with a machine in poor condition.” The Scott catalogue number and value given is for a similar perforated stamp, as this is not listed there.
