Mailed Paris MAY.9.1892 and Toronto next day receiver on back. Small opening tear at top, not affecting stamps. Very fine. Estimate $100, sold for $160 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 1341 — Canada 1894 three cent Small Queen illustrated cover Renfrew Ontario, sold for $184

Lot 1341Lot 1341 CVR Canada #41 1894 Renfrew All Over Map Illustrated Cover, mailed Renfrew OCT.26.1894 and addressed to Toronto (receiver on back). Front is illustrated with a map in rose-red of main roads (and railroads) leading to Renfrew, from Georgian Bay to the West, to Ottawa to the East. There is also a long paragraph boasting on the merits of Renfrew “…the most substantial town in the Ottawa valley…”. Very fine and interesting cover. Estimate $100, sold for $160 plus buyer’s premium.

The cover is franked with a regular #1 (filing crease but 4 margins) and a #1 with re-entry (position A47 – this stamp was removed for inspection and replaced and has 4 margins, close at top), each tied by its own target cancel. File fold, else very fine. Accompanied by a 2012 Richard Gratton AIEP certificate. Unitrade $3,700
