Lot 778 1936 Registered C.O.D. Cover Refused and Sent Back, a 3c stationery cover mailed registered from Rocanville, Sask to Spiritwood, Sask, uprated with a 5c KGV and a 10c Cartier to pay the 17c triple weight registration fee (1c overpaid). The 15c C.O.D. fee (yellow triangular adhesive label on front) would have been paid in cash. The cover travelled well, as there are just over thirty datestamps on back (see scan online) including Brandon, Spiritwood, Prince Albert, RPOs, etc. A very interesting cover, which is accompanied by someone’s attempt to retrace the route by dates, from JUL.22 to SEP.7. A few wrinkles and small tear at left, still very fine. Estimate C$150.

Lot 283 1894 Registered Intercolonial Railway Perfin Cover, mailed from Boundary Creek, N.S. on OCT.30.1894 to Moncton, N.B. (same day receiver), on Intercolonial Railway of Canada stationery. Franked with a 3c Small Queen and 5c Registered Letter stamp (both with ICR perfin, only a handful known on cover), the 5c having a straight edge at bottom, attributed to plate II. A fresh and very fine cover, with many rare or ideal attributes. From the John Hillson Collections. Estimate C$1,500.
