Lot 901 Newfoundland #C18 var 1933 $4.50 Balbo Flight Surcharge with Inverted, or Reversed Watermark, Perforated 14.3, a mint never hinged block of four, with the watermark (as seen from the back) showing the caribou facing left with head facing upward. This rare variety is not listed in Unitrade, but we are aware of only 14 stamps with the inverted watermark (2x blocks of four and 6x singles). Listed in Stanley Gibbons as #235w, £10,000 and Walsh as #AM19b, $11,000. A very fine and rare block, and a must have for the advanced Airmail or Newfoundland collector, with 2022 Greene Foundation certificate. Rsv. $3,600.
