Lot 376 Newfoundland 1923 15c Vickers-Vimy Essays in Blocks of Four, with two ungummed and perforated blocks, the first in brown and blue on white paper, and the second in brown and black on yellow brown paper, fine-very fine. Listed by Walsh as TE2a and TE3 and priced at $1,120, noting that “it is believed that a sheet of 100 was made for each of the above essays.” Rarely seen in blocks. Includes two later imitation singles of possible US origin. Estimate C$200, sold for $525 plus 17% buyer’s premium.
