The cover is franked with a sheet margin single of the ribbed, hard wove paper 3d red imperforate, ideally tied by a double broken circle datestamp (contrary to regulation, scarce). Light horizontal fold does not detract from this desirable cover, both for the cancellation and for the scarce stamp usage. Accompanied by a 2015 Greene Foundation certificate. Rsv. $675. This lovely stamp has four large margins, showing part of the next stamp at left and at top, extremely fine. Accompanied by a 2019 Greene Foundation certificate. Unitrade CV$600.

Lot 630 Canada #14 1860 5c Domestic Rate Cover, mailed from Harrowsmith U.C (double broken circle in red dated JY 5, 1860 and earliest recorded date) to Whitby, with same day Kingston U.C transit on back in red. The cover is franked with a strip of three plus two singles of the 1c rose Queen Victoria, cancelled with 6 strikes of an italic and serifed “PAID” handstamp in red, plus another free strike (just to make sure). Edge faults, still a striking cover. Estimate $150, sold for C$450.00 plus 15% buyer’s premium.

Lot 1272 Kingston Fancy 9 on 1870 Registered Cover, mailed Kingston on APR.29.1870 registered to Sandwich, with Windsor transit, G.W.R. transit (RR65) and Grand Trunk Railway East A (RR53) transit as well as two REGISTERED railway boxed postmarks (incomplete) on back. The cover is franked with a pair of the 1c orange SQ plus a very fine 3c copper red, all cancelled by three very fine strikes of the #9 in cogwheel fancy cancel (Lacelle #119). Reduced at left, still a very fine early Small Queen cover. Estimate C$200.

Lot 7 Canada #2b 1851 6d Laid Paper Consort pair on cover, mailed to Toronto (weak receiver on back) with a Kingston Steam Boat Letter datestamp on front dated JUN.1.1854 (year slugs are reversed). This large cover is franked with a vertical right sheet margin pair of the 6d brown purple Consort Imperforate on laid paper (rich colour but faults), paying 4 times the domestic rate, or 12d. Several creases and a few repaired tears, still a scarce franking and catalogue value for two fine stamps alone is $20,000. Accompanied by a 2015 Greene Foundation certificate. Estimate $2,000, sold for C$950 plus buyer’s premium.
