The cover is franked with a very fine 15c bluish Grey Large Queen, with a clear “Balloon flaw” constant plate variety. As far as we know, this might be a unique usage for this stamp variety on cover, and a very fine one at that. Accompanied by a 2023 Greene Foundation certificate. Rsv. $3,200. Margins range from well clear top and bottom, to just touching at both sides, fine. A great item for plating, as the impression is crisp and clear. Lot 811Lot 811 Canada #4d 1852 3d Beaver on folded letter, mailed at Port Burwell U.C (double broken circle manuscript dated 31 DEC 52), franked with a 3d orange red Beaver on thin paper (four large margins, close at right bottom), not tied, but cancelled by a target cancel, addressed to Brantford (blue receiver) through Simcoe (datestamp on back). A fine cover. Unitrade CV$300, sold for $525 plus buyer’s premium.

Addressed to Brantford Ontario. Includes personal contents, datelined Tadoussac. An issue of the BNAPS “Nautical Times” newsletter notes that an example of this marking has NOT been reported on cover. Back flap removed, a trivial fault considering the significance of this Steamer mark on cover. Scarce. Estimate $250, sold for $450 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 166 Canada #51-54 1897 1c to 5c, and 50c Jubilee Used Group. A select group of socked on the nose cds town cancels on one 1c, one 2c, two each of the 3c, 5c and 50c. All except one are dated June to August 1897 and we note St Henri de Montréal, Harriston, Moose Jaw, Brantford and a Nanaimo Type II squared circle. A nice group. Est. $75, sold for $200 plus buyer’s premium.
