Lot 479 Newfoundland #C5 1930 50c on 36c Columbia Flight Surcharge, mint with full original gum, extremely lightly hinged (as per certificate only, as we cannot see any evidence), well centered with fresh, bright colour, very fine. One of the nicest examples we have handled. Accompanied by a 1993 B.P.A. certificate, as well as a 2021 Greene Foundation certificate, both stating the stamp is from “position 2” (of the setting). Lot 776 Newfoundland #C5 1930 50c on 36c Columbia Flight Surcharge, mint and very lightly hinged, fresh and fine-very fine. A very nice example of this stamp, with only 300 having been surcharged, of which 100 were used on cover and probably very few of the remaining 200 are this fresh. Accompanied by a 1963 Bolaffi (Italy) certificate, a 1995 Peter Holcombe (Switzerland) certificate and a 2018 Greene Foundation certificate stating that it is from position 2 (upper right) of the overprint setting. Also has pencilled expert signatures and a tiny purple ink expert handstamp on back. Rsv. Unitrade CV$9,000.
