Lot 467 Canada c. 1999 Booklet of 24 Essays, prepared by Ashton-Potter and sent to the pressure-sensitive paper suppliers for testing. Undoubtedly Canada Post had some understanding with Ashton-Potter regarding future contracts. Very fine for something of this nature, stamps are die-kissed. It is believed that the entire trial printing was destroyed except this one sample. Estimate $1000, sold for $950 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 165 Canada #37b 1870 3c copper red Small Queen, unused (no gum) with large, balanced margins. A nice example of this early printing. Very fine and accompanied by a 1990 Greene Foundation certificate. Unitrade CV$1,800, sold for $1,350 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 1040 Djibouti #471-474 var. 1978 5fr to 150fr Butterflies, an attractive set of a popular topical in full panes of 25, mint never hinged, fresh and very fine. The basic perforated set catalogues $10.50 suggesting a retail value of $750. One trivial corner crease on 150f sheet in margin mentioned for the record. Estimate $250, sold for $190 plus buyer’s premium.
