Floor Bid Sale December 7, 2024

Public Floor Bid Sale #10 will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at our office at 1770 Woodward Drive in Ottawa. This in-person only sale has 180 lots of stamps, covers, collections, face value postage, philatelic literature and collecting supplies. In-person viewing starts at 7:30 a.m. EDT and runs until the room is re-set for the start of bidding at 1:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary on sale day. Viewing is essential – we know there will be many “finds” awaiting the curious viewer. We will have various catalogues and other retail items on hand to purchase also.

1 2 Stamps 2 Boxes with thousands of Canada used starting from Jubilees (1c, 2c, 3c), Queen Victoria Numerals (1c, 2c) and Admirals (to orange $1) through to 1980s, in more than a dozen well used stock books and albums. We noted a good variety of the Centennial issue including identified varieties, and dozens of used high denomination stamps. Also includes a small box of at least $200 in face value mint postage of numerous values (with and without gum).
2 1 Stamps 1 Box of many hundreds of used British Commonwealth (including Canada and Australia), at least half being UK in nearly 200, 102-cards starting from Scott #226 featuring many dozens of small sets up to1980s
3 1 Stamps 1 Box with several hundred worldwide (mostly) used and some mint in 10 albums and stock pages: mostly but not exclusively Europe, and generally mid-20th Century. Includes two dozen US booklets including airmail (up to 15c stamps) and US Bureau of Engraving and Printing ephemera.
4 1 Supplies 1 Box with a variety of albums and binders, 10 in total (almost no stamps) containing Vario-style plate block holders, a new First Day cover album, Schaubek Germany, Schaubek ‘Permanent’ album and stock books. Material is generally well used. .
5 2 Stamps 2 Boxes with thousands of worldwide stamps featuring a well balanced mix of used and mint, neatly organized in 11 Uni-safe stock books, nearly all 20th-Century, a high proportion being from the mid-century. Dozens of countries represented, we noted good accumulations of Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Great Britain Machins. This group also has five country-specific albums (but just a few stamps, used) for Belgium, Japan and Switzerland, a Uni-safe stock book of worldwide souvenir sheets, a few covers and some stamps on bill notes. We even noted a Canada #158 Bluenose (fine, hinged, thin) tucked in there. A nice lot overall for the worldwide collector.
6 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps Four mint Canadian Government Officials stamps: O25 $1 Ferry (VFNH, c.v. $120), O27 $1 Fisheries (VFNH, c.v. $120), O10 $1 Ferry (VFLH, c.v. $70), O27 $1 Fisheries (VFH, c.v. $80).
7 1 Stamps 1 Box with 2 books with more than 230 pieces of Canada on cover (and post cards) from 1890-1949, with a half dozen Queen Victoria Numerals (2c, 3c), and about half being Edward VII (1c, 2c) and Admirals (1c, 2c.). Noted some postage due, War Tax, Air Mail (1934 Rouyn-Kewagama), and WW2 overseas war service. Also a stock book with mint and used from Small Queens to 1970s. A nice clean lot.
8 1 Stamps 1 Binder of an est. 125 covers of modern Canada and a dozen pieces of US material including US Army stampless (1919-1922) and three authenticated pieces from the Franklin D. Roosevelt collection.
9 1 Stamps 1 Box of many hundreds of mint and used worldwide stamps in 2 red boxes containing an est. 1200+ 102-cards, and a small box of loose material. This accumulation covers a wide range of countries with no particular country or region focus, in singles and short sets, with very little duplication. Mostly George VI-era thru to 1980s, much appears to be 1950s-1970s. Clean overall. Also includes a small box of hundreds of mint and used of similar material, loose and in plastic bags.
10 1 Stamps 1 Box with well over 1500 Canadian First Day covers, mostly Canada Post issued and mostly loose, ranging from 1973 Commonwealth meeting 8c./15c set through to the 1990 50c Tom Thompson Canadian art stamp. Light duplication, noting ‘ Rosecraft’ and numerous ‘NR Covers’ printers. Noted 3 unopened sets of 1976 Olympics (A to E series) and other Canada Post material still in unopened wrapping. Also includes 200+ Canada Post postcards, mostly 1984 Tall Ships. A clean lot overall.
11 3 Stamps 3 Boxes with an eclectic used worldwide assortment of large albums (including a 3 volume Harris Senior Statesman), 5 stock books, 50 manila stock sheets, and stamps on 4 inches of loose paper and approval books. Thousands of stamps in usual condition for a lot such as this. We noted a few stock sheets of France but the rest defies easy characterization. Also includes a QEII Silver Jubilee album an unusual assortment of used Japanese stamps in groups of 100, which we suspect were for a bulk payment receipt.
12 1 Stamps 1 Box with an accumulation of Canadian mint and used in a Jacques Cartier album starting with Small Queens through modern, notably Scott #85-86 (hinged), #98 2c Quebec Tercentary NH, #198 F-VFNH, #158 50c Bluenose and #159 $1 Parliament, #203 Grain Exhibition VFNH (c.v. $120). Lot includes several hundred used stamps hinged to loose sheets, with 20+ sheets of high-value denominations ($1-$5), and a couple of hundred stamps in 102-cards. A useful lot that has some promise of value.
13 1 Covers Approximately 500 Canada & US covers, postcards & postal stationery, 1900-1940; most 1910-1930. We saw a hotel advertising cover and a group of Admiral frankings.
14 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps One stock sheet of 19 Mint Newfoundland including a nice run of the Discovery of Newfoundland set most in VF condition and all but 15c in NH (c.v. $460), #20 VFNH in pair showing notable portion of stamps on left margin (c.v. $120), #36, and #226-229. Quite fresh overall.
15 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps One stock sheet of 15 different Mint Never Hinged Tannu Touva including Scott #54-57 in pairs, #C13, and #61-70 (c.v. $42). Nice copies of these inexpensive but popular stamps.
16 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps One stock sheet of 11 different Mint stamps of the Canada ‘Scroll’ issue, Scott #149-158, most being hinged. Nice hinged VF-centered copy of #158 Bluenose and a VFNH copy (but with pulled perf).
17 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps One stock sheet of 11 different Mint stamps of the Canada ‘Leaf’ issue, mix of H and NH, in range of Scott #162-177. Nice VFNH copy of the 20c Harvester and a F-VFNH of the $1 Mount Edith Cavell.
18 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps One stock sheet of 13 different Mint stamps of the Canada King George V ‘Pictorial’ issue, Scott #217-227 and #229-230, with the 10c to $1 all VF NH (excepting 13c which is H). A fresh set overall.
19 1 stock sheet in binder Covers Three aerophilatelic special event covers in a black stock sheet, two of them signed by event participants. First is a 1976 Canadian 434 Squadron air refueling flight cover signed by the Captain of Bluenose II and the pilots of the air-to-air refueler. Second is a Battle of Britain 25th anniversary cover from 1965. Lastly an RAF 1969 Battle of Britain anniversary cover flown on a Spitfire Mk. 19. Perfect for the aerophilately enthusiast.
20 4 Supplies A melange of supplies including 10 red boxes, 5 red binders, 10 magazine holders, 15 small stamp dealer binders, hundreds of plastic 3-card holders (for 102-cards or booklets, looks new), dozens of glassines of various sizes, and hundreds of medium-size envelopes (new). Unless otherwise stated, contents are used.
21 2 Supplies A real mix of supplies including 11 red boxes, 6 red binders, 5 magazine holders, 12 small stamp dealer binders, hundreds of plastic 3-card holders (for 102-cards or booklets: many new), hundreds of glassines of various sizes (most new), hundreds of Uni-safe dealer stock sheets (most look new). Unless otherwise stated, contents are used.
22 1 Stamps Box with 65 First Day Covers and postcards from (mostly) Congo, Algeria and Central African Republic circa 1958-1968. No duplication and nearly all with vibrant, colourful cachets featuring subjects such as birds, culture and famous persons (Churchill, Lincoln, etc.).
23 1 Stamps Medium-size box filled with used Canadian material, nearly all modern, in hundreds of envelopes, and loose off cover in bags; more than 150 First Day Covers (no duplication, 1987-2005), and 20 Wildlife Habitat Conservation booklets and licenses (province of Quebec 1996, 2000, 2001) and federal (1985-2001 range). If you like off-cover cancellations on Flag and Parliament stamps, this could be the lot for you.
24 3 Stamps Three boxes with an accumulation of eight large, older worldwide albums (Statesman, Senior Statesmen variety) of varying date ranges up to about 1980. Some are sparsely filled, some substantially so. No particular areas of explicit focus though Europe predominates. A couple of stock books are included to help with any re-organization of contents needed. Mixed condition as to be expected.
25 1 Stamps Medium-size box with many hundred of used US stamps in variety of glassines and envelopes, appears mostly modern up to 1980s/90s; and, a stock book with approx. $50 US face value in mint 33c-34c denomination souvenir sheets (including Looney Tunes, Peanuts).
26 1 Stamps Medium-size box with thousands of worldwide used stamps in variety of forms including loose in manila stock sheets, in cigar boxes, in and on envelopes, and on postcards. Appears mostly modern (up to 1980s) but is unsorted and perhaps some finds possible. Mixed condition as to be expected.
27 2 Covers Two boxes with a few hundred WWF maximum cards and first day covers, duplication noted.
28 1 Covers Sweden – Group of Approximately 400 Service Advertising Covers, mostly 1920s-1930s.
29 1 Covers Box of approximately 500 covers from 1960s to the 1990s, from DDR (with duplication) and Russia (with ship and Antarctic topical interest).
30 1 Stamps One large box of several thousand worldwide off- and on-cover, mostly modern but surely a few surprises in here, with considerable Canadian content. Great project for the dedicated sorter!

32 1 Supplies “1 box with four Stanley Gibbons “”Plymouth”” quadrille-page albums (albums in nice shape, slipcovers are rough); a large Scott International album, Gibbons’ New Ideal album (for the albums, very few stamps within); a used Uni-Safe stock book and small variety of supplies including 50 new Lindner approval cards (14.5 x 8.3 cm), quadrille pages, stock sheets and mint sheet holders.”
33 1 Stamps 1 box of several thousand worldwide used on hundreds of stock sheets and loose pages, featuring wide variety including India, many African countries, Emirate states, and thematics (space, animals, sports). Binders in rough shape but a useful accumulation of stamps.
34 1 Stamps 1 box of several hundred worldwide with a high proportion used, in 101 cards, 102 cards and in glassines. This accumulation covers the world thus no particular aggregation, but noting British Commonwealth, Germany, South America and Africa. From 1880s to modern, but looks like before 1980s. Some but little duplication overall. About one-third are identified. We expect that postmark enthusiasts will be rewarded.
35 1 Stamps 1 box of thousands of Canadian used in stock sheets, 101 cards and glassines from small Queen Victoria Leaf and Numeral issue, and wide range of Admirals, through to 1980s. We noted some nice cork and fancy cancellations. Most material is pre-1950s. Also includes Back-of-Book, G overprint, modern Newfoundland used, 100+ items of Canadian postal stationary, 40+ First Day Covers (including 22 CAPEX 1978 souvenir sheets) and 8 copies of the two volumes of Canada Post souvenir collection. Most of the stamps in this lot are separated by issue, if not identified. We expect some good value to be found here.
36 1 Stamps 1 box with at least $525 face value of mint Canadian postage, consisting of an estimated $230 in low-denomination value (1c-8c including three dozen full sheets), and higher denomination from 17c to $2.
37 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps 1 stock sheet with 43 different mint and used Canada featuring used Unitrade #18, 9 different Small Queens; mint Fine Hinged copies of 6c-8c-10c-15c-20c-50c Jubilee, 16 Admiral issue including nicely centered copies of the 8c blue and 20c olive, and a 50c silver black (#120c); a mint $1 Parliament, mint $1 Mount Edith Cavell, and mint $1 Chateau de Ramezay.
38 1 Stamps Nice assortment of Canadian material including one Lighthouse stock book with a collection, neatly laid out, featuring hundreds of mint and used stamps from Jubilee issue (Mint 2c, 3c, 8c) to the mid-1980s and virtually all mint from 1960-on, thus notable face value postage especially 17c and under. This lot also includes $100 retail in First Day Cover Quarterly Packs (still in packaging: Jan. to Dec. 2005, and July to Dec. 2006); a Canada Post Millennium Collection; and a packet of about 50 mostly used Newfoundland.
39 1 Literature 1 carton of 19 Ian Kimmerly Stamp Auction catalogues, from #51 (June 1994) through to #109 (Feb. 2001).
40 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps 1 stock sheet with 11 Canadian mint stamps of the King George VI Mufti issue (Scott #232-236) and 1938 Pictorial issue (#241-245), the 50c Vancouver and $1 Chateau are nice VFNH copies. Fresh overall.
41 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps 1 stock sheet with 18 used Canada, with acceptable copy of Scott #27, Small Queens (1c, 3c, 6c, 8c, 10c), nice VF copy of 50c used Widow Weeds (c.v. $100), Nova Scotia #2 and #3 (tight margins, owner identified), and huge margin Newfoundland #20 VFNH.

44 1 Stamps/Supplies “1 “”Starter Collector”” box with a like-new 2022 Canadian Unitrade catalogue, at least $100 face value in mint Canadian stamps (mostly modern, with some duplication), 20+ sleeves – some opened – of Unitrade (mostly) black and clear mounts, 20 stock cards, and misc. supplies (magnifying glass, perf gauges, mount cutter).”
45 1 Stamps 1 carton with many hundreds of used Poland stamps in a 1972 Minkus album (moderately complete), 3 stock books and a variety of off- and on-cover, plus loose material. Clean overall.
46 1 Stamps 1 box of thousands of worldwide stamps in 4 older albums, 3 stock books, on- and off-cover, in envelopes. No particular collecting area evident (excepting one box of US used) but appears mostly Europe-focused.
47 1 Covers 1890’s to 1995’s United States Postal Stationery collection. Several hundred Postal Stationery cards, covers, Airmail PS cards & covers, Aerogrammes etc. housed in a 8 cover albums, two stock books and, on stock pages in two Lighthouse binders . The group appears to be of French origin. Includes smaller and oversize mint and used items. There is an Albino UC1 and Airmail UC PS types from WW2 covers and US APO’s from a variety of countries. All covers are fine or better.
48 1 Covers Late 1940’s to 1980’s German Postal History accumulation. Several hundred covers housed in 3 cover albums and loose in two boxes, The albums contain primarily commercial mail with multiple frankings. One of the boxes is filled with FDC ‘s and Special Event Mail. The second box is mail addressed to Australia and is mostly Aerogrammes. Great group for a ‘Buck a Cover’ dealer’.
49 1 Covers Group of Australian covers with some worldwide cacheted Special Event and First Day Covers. Few hundred items from a great variety of countries loose in a medium sized box. Great topical material. Bulk of the lot is more recent Australia covers.
50 2 stock sheets in binder Stamps 2 black Vario stock sheets with mint Back of the Book stamps including Airmail, Special Delivery, Officials and other treats.
51 1 Covers 1960’s to 1990’s Great Britain First Day Covers. A medium sized box with a few hundred cacheted First Day Covers. Mostly complete sets. Almost all actually went through the mail with a majority addressed to Australia. Good Topical content.
52 1 Stamps 1890’s to 1960’s mint & used German stamps in multiple stock books. A bankers box with 17 stock books. All appear to have stamps of a certain type in each album. Runs the gamut from early eagles, Germania to 1980’s issues including DDR with strength in post-WW2 issues. Considerable value here and worthy of a good look through.
53 1 Stamps Assortment of Worldwide stamps in multiple stock books. About 15 stock books with mostly Eastern and Western European stamps in a bankers box. Has not been closely inspected so may have some better items lurking inside.
54 1 Covers Great Britain 1890’s to 1970’s accumulation of covers. A few hundred items loose in a box. Many items are in cover protectors that may have come from a dealer stock. A close inspection will prove fruitful as there are some seldom seen items in here. In particular there are two large covers addressed to Australia from the George VI period that have huge frankings (one with seven 10SH values!)
55 1 Stamps Collection of Rhodesia and group of singles on stock pages. Interesting high value group with Rhodesian stamps on album pages and on stock cards on stock pages in a small 3 ring binder. Includes some other British Africa such as hi value British East Africa issues etc. Great value here for the person who inspects it the closest.
56 1 Stamps Better Worldwide dealers extras grouping. A medium sized box with a huge amount of value here. Worldwide sets on stock cards and stock pages. Mostly mint with strength in British Commonwealth and Middle East. Too many highlights to detail here. Inspect closely. Will most likely be the highest bid up lot in the sale!
57 2 Catalogues 2 boxes of 75 Eastern Auctions catalogues, ranging from November 1987 to May 2021.
58 1 Catalogues 1 box of 45 Bow City auction catalogues, ranging from July 1992 to July 2021.

61 4 Catalogues 4 boxes of approximately 250 auction catalogues from about a dozen dealers including Ron Leith, L.C.D. Stamps, Spink, Firby, Middlesex, Brigham, Cavendish and others.
62 2 Stamps/Covers 2 boxes with an estimated 600+ United Nations First Day Covers (New York, Geneva, Vienna) in 13 FDC albums with a variety of attractive cachets and the popular issues (such as the ‘flag’ series), appears to be from 29 Feb 1960 to October 2009, and did not see any duplication. Also includes hundreds of mint singles (the two dozen we checked were NH, and rest appears so) in glassines and identified, from the three issuing offices. Also includes a small box with a variety of UN-related philatelic material including large envelope FDCs, postcards and a Scott album with modest number of UN stamps. This is a clean collection in very fine condition and one of the most complete such collections of UN FDCs we remember handling.
63 2 Stamps/Covers 2 boxes with an estimated 1,000 or more Canada Post FDCs in 11 Uni-safe albums. The covers are very clean, unaddressed and range from 1971-2010, arranged by year. Did not check for completeness in period but did not see any duplication and clearly this a collection carefully assembled; we noted 2000 Millennium series (17 blocks plus three singles), and high-denominations in period including the $10 Whale. Also includes a couple of dozen Canada FDCs loose including larger size that did not fit in the albums and 1976 Olympics issue (this with some duplication).
64 8 Covers 8 smaller cartons of Postal History with thousands of corner card/advertising commercial covers nearly all from Quebec-based businesses mailed in 2014-2016, featuring CDS, ink jet, machine and POCON cancels, with stamps mostly in period. There must be hundreds of different businesses represented, and the covers are very well organized by company name. Clean and very fine overall.
65 2 Covers 2 boxes of Postal History with thousands of covers postmarked from all over Ontario, with cancellations as early as 1920s to 1950s, but the vast majority being from 1990s and 2000s through to about 2012, with use of stamps in period. A wide variety of cancellations including CDS, ink jet, Wings, meters and POCON. Unorganized, but clean for an accumulation of this kind.
66 3 Covers 3 boxes of Postal History with several thousands of covers postmarked from all over Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, BC, Alberta and Manitoba, with some postmarks as early as 1935 but large majority are 1990s and 2000s, with use of stamps in period. A wide variety of cancellations including illustrated, CDS, ink jet, meters, POCON and Klussendorf.
67 1 FDCs 1 box with 250+ Canada First Day Covers in 2 large FDC blue Lindner binders with slipcases beginning with 1937 George VI issue (1c-2c-3c) through to 1985 Fort issue, several being published by Rosecraft. Also includes a nice accumulation of 90 Canadian Bank Note-issued FDCs from 1984-1990, loose, many with the ‘compliments of’ card still within: some of these have toning on the envelope margins. Clean overall.
68 1 Stamps/Covers 1 box with United Nations material including a New York First Day Cover collection (Oct. 1952 – May 1973) of 160+ covers in a blue Lindner FDC album with slipcase: a colourful assortment including those issued by Rosecraft, Cachet Craft and Artmaster. Also includes a substantially complete UN Geneva (1969-1990) and UN Vienna (1979-1990) collection in two Lindner red albums with slipcovers. This type of album makes it a challenge to check earlier issues for hinging: we did note some hinged but is NH for the majority of the material. Included are a few envelopes of stamps received from the UN NY Post Office still in original envelope used for mailing. Clean and very fine overall.
69 1 Stamps 1 box of Canada mint and used in two Scott albums up to 1992. We noted a Quebec Centenary set complete (fine, hinged), used Edward VII (1c-20c), Queen Victoria leaf issue complete, Jubilee Scott #57 10c F/VF NH (natural gum creases), and a variety of used and mint back-of-book (revenues, postal scrip, OHMS, G overprint, air mail). Much of the one album is mint from 1950-on in black mounts. Also includes 20+ stock pages with assortment of Canadian material including numerous used copies of 3c Jubilee and 3c Small Queen with squared circles and dated cancels.
70 1 Stamps 1 box of Mint Canada face value postage (mostly low denomination up to 17c, but saw some up to 50c), in 8 sheets (8c to 15c), with most in plate block form of stamps mostly from 1970s and 1980s in sealed and unsealed original packaging, secured to sheets and folders with Canada Post marketing ephemera for the stamps. Unchecked for varieties. Probably $200 of postage here.
71 1 stock sheet in binder Stamps 1 black stock sheet of 22 mint Canada (13 different stamps), a mix of H and NH, from Scott #216 (13c Britannia) to a strip of three $1 Centennial. Includes #226 VFNH, #227 F-VFNH, #273 VFNH ($1 PEI Ferry), #302 VF. A nice accumulation for those requiring stock material.
72 1 Stamps/Covers 1 box of many hundreds of used Canada and worldwide stamps in a binder of 10 stock sheets, multiple smaller books, covers and loose in envelope. We noted an interest in Netherlands material, a dozen Great Britain First Day Covers in green Lighthouse FDC binder, and some Canada military anniversary covers.
73 1 Stamps 1 stock book of hundreds of Canada (mostly) mint and used from the 1927 Confederation issue (complete) through to modern material. Unusually, the material is mint up to late 1960s (mix of H and NH) and used thereafter. Many mint sets here including George V ‘Medallion’ (low denomination), George V ‘Silver Jubilee’, George V ‘Pictorial’ (up to #225 Niagara Falls) and more. A really nice and clean accumulation with solid value.
74 1 Stamps 1 box containing three old time stamp albums with worldwide stamps including Canada from the 1900’s to the 1960’s. The International album is the most interesting of the three. We noted several Canada mint hinged including a 50 cent Bluenose, $1 Champlain monument and $1 Chateau de Ramezay to name a few. Also noted some strength in Newfoundland and New Zealand. Worth a close look.
75 1 Covers 1 box of covers/postcards mainly from Canada and postmarked from 1900’s to the 1930’s. There is also a bag of worldwide covers primarily from the 1950’s to 1970’s as well as a small bag of off paper Canadian stamps.
76 1 Stamps A 2 cubic foot box containing many thousands of on and off paper stamps with the overwhelming majority from Canada. Dates range from the 1920’s to the 1990’s with some on either side of the range. Some sorted by issue in envelopes.
77 1 Stamps 1 box containing a Scott Minuteman U.S. and U.N. album. The U.S is sparsely filled to the 1920’s then more complete from the 1920’s through to the 1980’s. The U.N portion is fairly complete from 1951 through to the 1980’s. There is also a binder with 16 stock sheets of used Australia mostly 1920’s to 1980’s.
78 2 Stamps 2 bankers boxes containing worldwide postal authority presentation packs received by a telecommunications official. The material is from the 1970’s and 1980’s and features mostly European countries with no Canada or USA present. The lot also features a Vatican coin set from 1984.

180 Post Cards Massive collection of more than 30,000 worldwide postcards with every conceivable subject from scenic to tourist, commercial to historical, political, geographic, social, sports, arts & entertainment, cultural sites, farming, ships, trains and transportation and on and on and on… Most seem to be from the 1940s onward through the 1980s/90s though some do fall outside those parameters. The vast majority are “chrome” single items, though we saw many sets and multi-fold booklets bought as keepsakes and some real photo, sepia and colourized postcards also. Also included are a number of books and reference resources on postcards and collecting them. It took the multi-generational owners many decades to assemble this vast assortment, which are surprisingly well organized by major geographic area in metal files drawers, all of which are also included in the lot. Arrangements can be made to hold this lot for pick-up in the days following the sale. Bidding will start at $1,000 for this special offering!

Sparks Auctions Floor Bid Sale – December 7, 2024

1. The property described in the lot list will be offered at a live, in-person, public floor auction by Sparks Auctions Inc. (hereinafter “Sparks Auctions”) on behalf of various consignors. By bidding on any lot, the bidder acknowledges and agrees to these Terms and Conditions of Sale.

2. The sale will be conducted in Canadian funds. The auctioneer shall regulate the bidding and reserves the right to reject any bid believed by him not to be made in good faith and to withdraw any lot prior to or during the sale and to act on behalf of the vendor. In the event of any dispute, the auctioneer’s decision shall be final.

3. The bidder with the highest bid acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. The term “hammer price” means the last bid acknowledged by the auctioneer. The purchase price payable by the buyer will be the sum of the hammer price plus a commission equal to 17% of the hammer price (“buyer’s premium”), together with any tax which may be applicable.

4. All lots shall be paid for and removed from the premises on the day of the sale. Payment may be made by e-transfer, cheque drawn on a Canadian bank, cash or credit card. A fee of 3.5% will be added to process credit card payments. A fee of $100.00 will be charged for any cheque returned for insufficient funds. Until paid in full, all lots remain the property of Sparks Auctions on behalf of the consignor.

5. All lots are sold as-is and there will be no extensions for expertization and no returns will be accepted for any reason. The opportunity to view the lots constitutes acknowledgement of both contents and quality.

6. Should any dispute arise over these Terms and Conditions, such dispute will be settled according to the laws and regulations of the Province of Ontario, Canada, with options for resolution being negotiation between the parties, followed by mediation, followed by action in the most appropriate legal venue in Ontario.
