There are also small blotches of blue-green and dark blue ink in the margin at right. We found this sheet in an accumulation of modern sheets consigned to us, as it immediately stood out. Accompanied by a 2021 Greene Foundation certificate stating “a pre-production printing taken during press setup leaving multiple impressions,” as well as a photograph taken with the VSC 6000 showing an enlargement of the variety. Estimate $750, sold for C$1,350.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

We note that the majority of the early issues are reprints, but the collection includes many better items such as souvenir sheet #344a ($110), set of four mini-sheets of 245a-248a (($80), the 1960 Fish set (missing one stamp, still about $100), the 1960 Flowers set ($120), 1964 Roses set ($100) and many better sets throughout. The lot also contains a few first day covers from 1982 and 1987 as well as souvenir sheet from Canada ’82 and a few pages of North East China stamps from the 1940s. See scans for a small taste. Estimate $500, sold for C$1,900.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Lot 58, Canada 1868 one cent brown red Large Queen, mint block of twelveLot 58 Canada #22 1868 1c Brown Red Large Queen, a mint block of twelve with full original gum and all stamps are never hinged except for two at the bottom centre, which are lightly hinged. Quite a fresh block which has never been folded and shows well centered stamps and good colour. Needless to say that this is a major Large Queen rarity, especially with its full original gum and so many never hinged original gum stamps. Accompanied by a 2021 Greene Foundation certificate which states “tiny black specks on lower left copy” and “missing perforation tips on a few stamps occurred during production process”.
