Upcoming Auction and Other News

We are hard at work lotting for what promises to be another strong auction. Dates for Sale #14 will be announced early in the new year. We already have substantial Canada material ready to go, and will have a larger than usual Worldwide section. We can continue to accept consignments until December 10th. Please let us know by e-mail or telephone if you have something you would like included.

In other news, we are pleased to welcome Louise Davies, who has joined our staff to assist with office responsibilities, bidder and consignor support, and shipping.

Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish clients who are celebrating the Festival of Lights!

Lot 991 — 1899-1901 Zanzibar bin-Said set, sold for $403

Lot 991 high value

Lot 991
Lot 991 Zanzibar #62-78 1899-1901 ½a to 5R Sultan bin-Said, set of 15 with fresh, deep colours. The entire set is never hinged, a few with light gum creases but most with immaculate gum. The most prominent gum crease does not show any crease in the papers fiber in fluid, the 5R has a light smudge of gray brown printer’s ink on the back which in our opinion adds character. A fine-very fine set, not commonly found never hinged. Scott CV$326, sold for $350 plus buyer’s premium.

A very rare block, and catalogue value is irrelevant. Ex. Cantor. Estimate $2000, sold for $2600 plus buyer’s premium.
