26 Lot 26Canada #9P E/P 7½d Queen Victoria Plate Proof in Green, a full sheet of 120 (12 x 10), printed on India paper mounted on larger card, showing 8 plate imprints, two in each corner. We note the major re-entry in position 7, plus both prominent misplaced re-entries in positions 47 and 83. The sheet has been folded horizontally in the margin between the 5th and 6th rows, affecting one stamp, and with separation at both ends, which does not generally detract from this very rare and valuable proof sheet. 28 Lot 28Canada #9 O 1857 7½d Green Queen Victoria Imperforate, used with a crisp strike of the 4-ring #12 cancel from Dundas (very rare, with a RF of 9 on the 3d Pence, as a comparison). The stamp has four large margins, showing part of the next stamp at right, is quite fresh and extremely fine and a truly remarkable stamp in every respect. 530 Lot 530United States   1845 5c Washington Postmaster’s Provisional Sperati Forgery, a rare stamp with four large margins and “ACM” initials in red, tied to small piece by two forged “PAID” cancels in red plus small “Copie” handstamp (with second strike on back). The piece is also signed “Jean de Sperati” in pencil on back. There is a small thin (seen from back) still a rare and lovely example of one of this master forger’s best work.
