Lot 618, back of Québec 1813 Ship Folded Letter Chambly to England, sold for C$920Lot 618 1813 Québec Ship Folded Letter to England, datelined “Camp near Chambly June 22nd 1813” this folded letter is handstamped with a double oval “Ship Letter / QUEBEC” with crown in the centre, plus another very similar “Ship Letter / DEAL” also with crown (undoubtedly of same manufacture). With red wax seal on back, alongside a GPO London double circle in red receiver dated “F / 6 AU 6 / 1813”. Small part of letter sheet missing, still very fine. Estimate $150, sold for C$800.00 plus 15% buyer’s premium.

Franked with a 9d bistre plate 2 (watermark emblems, SG 86, £1,200 on cover) plus a One Penny rose red, with a “4½d” red accountancy handstamp. Very fine. Ex. John Hillson.
