Lot 360 Great Britain #O10 1885 brown violet £1 Queen Victoria, Overprinted “I. R. OFFICIAL”, unused (no gum) and well centered. Accompanied by a 2016 P.T.S. Expertizing (Surrey, GB) certificate stating “thin at bottom left, diagonal crease on letter “F” top right corner, stained and soiled”. Two small ownership handstamps on back. Still, we qualify these faults as minor, as the stamp has a very fine appearance and would look great even in the best collections. A desirable major world rarity. S.G. #O11 £75,000. Lot 398 Southwest Africa #6 1923 6d black and violet KGV, Setting I, a lovely block of 16, with deep rich colour and neat Swakopmund JAN.30.1923 postmark (first month of issue). The block has 3 constant errors (comma for stop, two of the stubbed “Z”, and Wesi for West). The latter is listed on some values in the Stanley Gibbons catalogue and extrapolating from the listed 2d value would suggests a CV in the order of £500 for this variety. CV, however is for eight used pairs with no premium for this block. (SG #6 £360). Very fine and ideal for exhibition. Scott CV U$400, sold for C$325.00 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 359 Great Brtain #O1 1840 1p black Queen Victoria “VR” Official, unused (no gum), from plate position GB (ideal thus), with four large and balanced margins, crisp impression and deep colour, with only a thin at left (not visible from the front). Very fine. Accompanied by a 1984 Friedl (New York) certificate and a 2015 Philatelic Foundation (New York) certificate. A great world rarity and worthy of the finest collection. S.G. #V1 £32,000. Lot 5, Canada 1851 three penny red beaver on laid paper, 1852 cover Québec City to Coaticook, sold for $1552
Lot 5 Canada #1 1851 3d red Beaver Imperforate on Laid Paper on Cover, mailed Québec City on AUG.20.1852 and addressed to Coaticook (in the Eastern Townships, a rare destination in this period and could be unique), with dateless receiver on back, in red. Franked with a 4-margin (including three large) laid paper imperforate, tied to cover by a bold target, which has been removed to confirm laid lines and hinged back. Cover is a tiny bit stained and there is an opening tear on the back flap, still an appealing cover franked with Canada’s first stamp. Accompanied by a 2016 Greene Foundation certificate. Unitrade CV$2,000, sold for C$1,350.00 plus buyer’s premium.
