Lots 485-503 in the Canadian Elizabethan material are from the estate of Jean-Pierre Beaudin, a photographer who collaborated on the design of 37 stamps between 1973 and 1999 in addition to producing a number of essays in or about 1970. Mr. Beaudin worked on multiple definitive issues – a rare occurrence. Most of these lots exist in very small quantity, with several items being unique in private hands. Collector Leopold Beaudet has written an article on Mr. Beaudin’s philatelic work, published in The Corgi Times, which provides additional insight. We urge every collector of Canada modern issues to review these lots carefully, as they provide a perfect opportunity to acquire rare or unique material that is perfectly suited for exhibits.

Lot 485 c.1970 1c to 5c Definitive die essays, set of 5 with 1c brown, 2c red, 4c violet, 5c green and 6c blue, all printed on thin card (87x139mm), very fine. Only 2 of each of the 1c, 2c, 5c and 6c values are recorded in private hands. The 4c value is believed to be unique. Estimate: $500
Lot 492 1981 Les Floralies issue, plate block signed by the 3 designers: Jean-Pierre Beaudin, Jean Morin and Tom Yakobina, very fine, never hinged. Plus two negative pictures, one of which was used for the final design and second showing the grounds of the exhibition (both previously unrecorded), plus 2 matched set of plates blocks, a few singles and a First Day cover (these not signed). Lot 494 1982-1987 2c Fishing Spear large size black and white photographs, one of the original unaccepted design showing an "open" spear, 160x195mm pasted on larger card, and second photograph of revised design with "closed" spear with glassine overlay showing various notations from the designer ("For retouching as necessary"). Very fine and unique. Estimate: $250
