Sold for $10,350 — Lot 1502, Halifax NS Postal History collection

This might be our favourite story from Auction #2:
Collection of early Halifax, N.S. postal history, neatly written-up on album pages. Contains 27 items from the stampless era ranging from 1784 to 1864 with the majority dated before 1840s. Collection includes better postmarks such as cover described as earliest recorded postmark from Halifax, early straightlines, double-oval HALIFAX SHIP LETTER, a rectangular boxed SHIP LETTER / HALIFAX NS, Halifax "Fleurons", early cds and more. Good range of rates and handstamps on material to, through and from Halifax. A lovely and irreplaceable lot, fine-very fine. Estimated by us at $1500.

This lot was pursued by multiple telephone bidders when the bidding opened at $2400. Bidding progressed until we were finally able to sell the lot for a final price of $10,350 with premium.
